My name is Larry Hanson and this is my 1957 Ford F-150 short bed ½ ton pickup. Her name is Madusa. She has a 223 Straight 6 engine with a 4 speed manual transmission. I found the truck sitting in the RV parking area of the mobile home park where I live.
I paid $500.00 for her, and she was not running when I bought her. Someone had put a bed that is off of a 67 to 72 ford pickup, and I would like to replace that with a 1957 original fleet side bed as soon as possible.
The first problem with her was the ignition switch was wired wrong, so I had my friend Mike Johnson help rewire it to start correctly. Next the truck would not keep running because of a lot of sludge in the fuel line from sitting so long. So I took the gas line and tank out, and Quiet Masters of Modesto cleaned and repainted the tank, and I bolted it back in with a new fuel line.
The truck now starts, and runs well because I have installed a new Holley single barrel carburetor, as well as new fuel pump and fuel filter. The truck electric system is in better shape also with new battery, starter relay, and new headlights to show me where to go.
My other friend Billy, and I had to drill out the holes to reinstall the bench seat with safety belt. So now she is pretty much drivable.
Well that’s basically all for now. If you would like to see my truck (Madusa), she should be at our next car show in September 2007. |
